1) Hope Hermitage Elderly Care
A voluntary social organization, was established in the
early 2014 from different expert professional, who sought to redress dishonors
behaved against elderly people, and thereby focused on promotion and wellbeing
of senior citizens. HHN was formally registered as a non-governmental
organization on November 7, 2014, and got affiliation with Social Welfare
Council (SWC) of Nepal. We have also registered HHN with NGO Federation Nepal.
Since then HHN has started strengthening our already existed networks with
senior citizen federation of Nepal and organizations working on the ageing
issues aiming to deconstruct the existing perception of society about the
concerns of elderly people, including specifically Alzheimer’s Dementia. HHN is
an elderly people-centric organization that aims facilitate policy makers for
ensuring wellbeing of senior citizens and explore dimensions of social,
economic and family problems the elders people are facing, review and assess
existing state policies and social security system, formulate focused advocacy
for the systemic change about the existing social dishonor against ageing,
especially Health related like Alzheimer’s and related Dementia.
2) Matatirtha Old Age Home
Founded in 1997. It was located in Matatirtha Kunda. It
has it’s own building. About 22 mother’s are sheltered in the home. Matatirtha
Old Age Home Committee provides shelter to any female citizens of Nepal over 60
years of age; of any ethnicity or religion, and those who are needy, without
shelter, without guardians and in need of care and attention. It provides
shelter to those who have been recommended by the concerned bodies for shelter
at the Residence and those who commit to abide by the rules and regulations of
the residence committee. Apart from food, shelter, and clothing the residence
provide health services and religious and entertainment programs for the
residents as well as make arrangements for the cremation of any of the residents
upon their demise.”

3) Himalaya Old Age Home Committee
Himalayan Old age home was established in 2061 B.S. with
the purpose to provide food, shelter to homeless and old aged people. It was
started from Manamaiju with 7000 rent per month but due to rent problem they
had to face many issues so had to stay in not a suitable place in Basundhara and
one day they were seen by a person i.e. Surendra Raj Shrestha who came for
morning walk. He then gave them a house to stay and also paid the rent for
year. The total number of resident are 27 people, there 9 board members out of
which 3-4 are involved and there are also 2 full time staffs to take care and provide
food for the old people. The home provides services to those who are helpless
and homeless. There isn’t any connection with NGOs or specific kind of
donations or funds, so mostly they really on donations that come through the
people who provide donations on birthdays, anniversaries, death anniversaries.
The old people are brought to the old age home through police station i.e.
missing case and only after verification the residents are allowed to stay.
4) Prisoner’s Assistance Nepal
Prisoners Assistance (PA) Nepal – a non-profit making
charitable organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and socially
reintegrating incarcerated children in Nepal, was founded by Indira Rana Magar,
widely known as Aama. She first began working with prisoners in 1990 alongside
human rights activist Parijat and registered PA Nepal in 2000 AD. Aama, is a
social worker and human rights activist dedicated to giving prisoners’ children
a better today and brighter future in Nepal. Indira was one of three finalist
nominees for the 2014 World’s Children Prize and was awarded the World’s
Children’s Honorary Award by Queen Silvia of Sweden for promoting and
protecting the rights of incarcerated mothers with children. Various honorary
awards that include Ashoka Fellow 2005, Asia 21 Young Leader Public Service
Award 2009, BBC 100 Women around the World 2017, Rotary Vocational Excellence
Award 2017 and many more at national level have been awarded to Aama for her
humanitarian work in Nepal.

Thanks to the support provided by “Forum of former International Professionals of Multilateral Organizations in Nepal” (https://fipmo-nepal.org/), we were able to support the Residents at Bihani Social Venture‘s social impact partners- Matatirtha Oldage Home and Himalaya Oldage Home along with, elderly inmates who are in the prisons supported by Prisoner’s Assistance Nepal.
